- Manifest Windows XP stores all of it’s data separate from the
application in files called Data Containers. These files are
located in your Manifest Windows XP Data folder and have a file
extension of MDB.
- C:\Program Files\Manifest Windows XP\Data
- They are designed to contain all the information collected by the
application as you run your daily operations and are not intended to be
opened separately.

- Separation of the application from the data allows me to provide updates
to the application without overwriting any of your production data.
- It also allows you to move your production data onto other computers
(e.g. to the home/office computer when the DZ is closed).

|
- Your production data container should be named in such as way that it is
easily recognizable as the main production data container.
- Use a name or abbreviation that is short and to the point!
- Initial data containers were named 'Manifest Data DZ Name.mdb'.
- Replace ‘DZ Name’ with your business name or abbreviation.
- e.g. Manifest Data Adventure Skydiving.mdb
- This helps me when you send your files for updates & support.
- Always stay connected to your production data container!
- Avoid relinking the application to any removable media drives.
- Avoid maintaining multiple copies of data containers on the main and
other computers! This will help
reduce confusion.

- Backup files created by the system will have a time stamp added to their
filename:
- 'Manifest Data DZ Name 2010.11.12 @ 15.18.26.mdb
- After performing a backup the application remains connected to your
production data container.
- Always stay connected to your production data container!
- The only time you should connect to a backup container is if you are
researching old data or trying to find out that something was before it
was changed.

|
- In most cases, you only need to maintain three (3) data containers on
your system as follows:
- Your Production Data Container
- e.g. Manifest Data DZ Name.mdb
- The most recent backup of your production data container
- e.g. Manifest Data DZ Name
Backup 2010.11.12 @ 15.18.26.mdb
- A recent copy of your production data container for Training
- e.g. Manifest Data TRAINING.mdb
- This will keep things simple and help reduce the chances of selecting
the wrong file for production use.
- You may also want to maintain a copy of the ‘Demo’ data containers for
reference & training. However, once you have been using the
application for a few months, you should delete the ‘Demo’ data
containers from your system to avoid confusion.
